Word that is misunderstood!



If you listen to conservative Christian broadcasts or watch on television, you will often feel a fear that Christians are victimized for speaking out what they believe.  You will hear examples of Pastors or Christian workers who have been jailed for not performing gay marriages or even allow their place of worship be used for such occasions.

The word thrown around in most of these cases is "intolerant".  

If a minister of the Gospel preaches against the homosexual lifestyle, that person will most likely be accused of  inciting hatred against a segment of the population.

In the United States, opinion has gone from 58% opposed to same-sex marriage to 58% in favor in 10 years.

What is driving this change of opinion?  What will that mean for those still opposed and wish to speak out against it?  Is "Freedom of Speech" still protected under the law?

If one is not a Christian, then none of what this writer explains here will make any difference.  If one is a Christian, then one must take one's cue from the Bible.  That is our ultimate source.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Old Testament:
Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.

New Testament:
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. 9 We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine 11 that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.

Being tolerant does not mean agreeing with something.  It does mean loving people for who they are not what they do.

Why?

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Why the Christian MUST speak out.

Two reasons:


It is important that people understand the difference between hate-mongering and self-preservation.

America is headed in the wrong direction.

This is sad and extremely dangerous.

I hope we have not gone beyond God's perimeter of safety.  If we have, for the sake of the few who still believe, I pray God delivers us from any impending doom.

Today, March 26, 2013, The US Supreme Court is arguing this very issue. The press has already, in their own thinking, indicated the verdict.

Imagine this, right from the Declaration of Independence:

...We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness....

This gives me goose bumps.

If the Supreme Court capitulates, it will be a matter of time before the phrase "endowed by their Creator" is replaced by some phrase so sinister that USA will be open for the taking.

As far as speaking out goes, this is not just about homosexuality. It's about lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, murderss, ... the list is extensive.

Our laws are based on these.

But "Got is not a man".

God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?
